Unsure where to book your next flight for the best chance of capturing great photos? In the past few years, I have travelled the world in search of the best frames. Here are some of my favourites for 2024.
01. Marrakesh
Nestled within the bustling souks and labyrinthine alleyways of Marrakesh lies a world of scenes and subjects waiting to be discovered. The vibrant colours, patterns, light and bustling markets create a true photographer’s paradise! While navigating the maze-like streets may be a challenge and the Moroccans who inhabit them may not be too keen to pose for your photos, the rewards are well worth the effort. From the kaleidoscope of hues in the Jardin Majorelle to the chaotic energy of Djemaa el-Fna square, Marrakesh offers a feast for the senses and a wealth of photographic opportunities.

02. Paris
The City of Light remains an eternal muse for photographers. Renowned for its iconic landmarks and romantic boulevards, Paris offers a treasure trove of photographic opportunities. Each of its arrondissements tells a unique story, from the bohemian charm of Montmartre to the chic sophistication of the Marais. Street photographers will find themselves spoiled for choice as they wander through the city’s diverse neighbourhoods, capturing the essence of Parisian life in every frame.

03. Nazare
Perched on the rugged cliffs of Portugal’s western coast, Nazare draws photographers in with its dramatic scenery and unique blend of old-world charm and modern-day excitement. Renowned for its towering waves and fearless surfers, Nazare offers a dynamic backdrop for capturing the raw power of the ocean. Beyond the adrenaline-fuelled action of the waves, the town itself exudes a sense of timeless tranquility, with its narrow cobblestone streets and whitewashed buildings. Here, photographers can find beauty in the simplicity of everyday life, whether it’s the fishermen mending their nets or the locals gathering in the town square.

04. Istanbul
Steeped in history and brimming with culture, Istanbul is a city of contrasts, where east meets west and ancient traditions collide with modern-day life. From the grandeur of the Hagia Sophia to the bustling energy of the Grand Bazaar, Istanbul offers a visual feast for all types photographers. Street photographers will find themselves drawn to the city’s vibrant neighbourhoods and eclectic mix of sights and sounds, from the bustling markets and streets to the fishermen-lined shores of the Bosphorus.
